Cultural & Resource Centers -- Virtual Welcome Events

When

11 a.m., Sept. 1, 2020

The staff of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ+) Resource Center and the Women & Gender Resource Center (WGRC) would like to extend a warm welcome (and welcome back) to the 2020-2021 academic year at the University of Arizona!

The Office of Multicultural Engagement (OME) is composed of African American Student Affairs, Asian Pacific American Student Affairs, Guerrero Student Center, Immigrant Student Resource Center, LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Masculinities in the Mix, Native American Student Affairs, and Women and Gender Resource Center. OME is offering two virtual Welcome Events to get the chance to connect with staff to learn about how we will be providing support services this semester. We will also have breakout rooms available to get a chance to ask questions you may have about cultural and resource centers, Tucson, campus, resources and Financial Aid.

We do the daily work of supporting students with marginalized identities in their holistic wellness and academic endeavors at the UA. We are advocates doing everything within our power to create welcoming and safe environments for the students we serve. We work alongside our students toward a more socially just campus and world. We are dedicated to decolonizing / Indigenizing the campus, following the lead of the Tohono O’odham whose land we live and work on, and whose ancestral wisdom will ultimately save us.

We are here to support you every step of the way.

For those of you returning to the University of Arizona, we are glad to have you back as you continue your journey to the graduation stage. For those new students who are just joining our community, we encourage you to reach out to our Cultural and Resource Center teams.

Supporting you is central to our mission in the Office of Multicultural Engagement.

We are a resource for our student community.

Please reach out to us for support, assistance, and connection with folks who are familiar with navigating at the UA. Contact our teams for finding a job, locating housing options, and how to find and apply to scholarships. We are here to help with the How To’s of higher education at a predominantly white institution.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, please know that the staff across the Cultural and Resource Centers will be working remotely and will be available to provide virtual support (i.e. 1:1’s, referrals, programming). The physical spaces operated by the Cultural and Resource Centers will remain closed for the duration of the Fall 2020, but we are still here to provide support--we got you. Decisions on re-opening across the Cultural and Resource Centers for Spring 2021 will be dependent on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic as we prioritize the health and safety of our teams and spaces.
